Auction VIN History exists because a single listing only shows a moment, and the moments before it often matter more.
We are an independent, education-first resource. We are not affiliated with Copart, IAA, any data provider, or any manufacturer. That independence lets us explain what a vehicle's history really means without overpromising certainty, and it means we have no reason to make any car's past look better than the record says it is.
We built this site around a simple observation: most expensive salvage-buying mistakes were visible in the history before the bid. The car that had cycled through the lanes four times, the damage description that quietly softened between sales, the title brand that appeared with no matching loss event — none of these hide especially well, but a buyer reading only the current lot page never sees them. The listing is a snapshot taken by someone with a car to sell; the history is the record of what actually happened.
